R-51 and Urban Renewal in Athens

R-51 was the second of two major urban renewal projects in Athens. This project was four times bigger than the one that destroyed the Linnentown community, and it resulted in the displacement of nearly 400 households, many of which were in the historic Black neighborhoods of The Bottom and Lickskillet.
