.The Georgia Hunger Study is a collaboration between nine Feeding America Food Banks, Feeding Georgia, University of Georgia, and GA DHS. As part of the study, we have created a mapping tool that shows proximity to public-serving food distribution programs in the state. This map was made using February 2023 agency lists from regional food banks and the US Census. The proximity score was measured using distance from each census tract to the nearest pantry, third closest panty, and number of pantries within a 15-minute drive. We ranked the proximity score alongside a score of low-income population density to identify potentially underserved areas (areas with a high population under 200% of the poverty line but low proximity score). If this number is negative, these are places that may be underserved
