As part of decennial redistricting, Athens-Clarke County is redrawing its commission districts. The county proposed new districts that were largely similar to the existing boundaries, but the county commission failed to approve these unanimously. As a result, the state legislature has proposed a new set of boundaries. You can compare the current and proposed boundaries using this map. Click here for a full screen version.

So it appears that with this new Republican map three sitting commissioners — Melissa Link, Tim Denson and Russell Edwards — will be unable to run for re-election this year. They’re in odd-numbered districts up in 2022 but drawn into even-numbered districts up in 2024. #gapol pic.twitter.com/dUUKJASllX
